Product-Led Growth
Origin: OpenView / Wes Bush
Biological Parallel
Mycorrhizal networks spread through forests not through 'sales'—the fungus delivers immediate value (phosphorus to tree roots) and earns reciprocal sugar in return, then naturally expands as satisfied trees chemically signal neighbors. This mutualistic growth requires no top-down acquisition strategy because the product (nutrient exchange) sells itself through demonstrated value. Product-led growth mirrors this symbiotic logic: users adopt because they immediately receive value, then become the distribution channel through network effects, just as mycorrhizal fungi spread through root-to-root recommendations.
