Arctic fish that independently evolved antifreeze glycoproteins (AFGPs) convergent with Antarctic notothenioid fish, but from a different gene. This demonstrates convergence at the protein function level without genetic convergence - selection favored antifreeze function, and different lineages achieved it using different genomic raw materials.
