Seed Bank Regeneration
Organizations can rebuild from dormant assets - patents, brand equity, customer relationships, institutional knowledge - that were 'deposited' during successful periods.
Seeds dormant in soil germinate after disturbance (fire, flooding, soil disturbance). Germination within weeks, but seedlings take years to reach previous canopy height. Energy source is seed reserves from parent plant, stored potentially decades. Examples include lodgepole pine with serotinous cones that open after fire. Limitation: requires previous seed production and viable seed bank - if soil is stripped, no seed bank remains.
Business Application of Seed Bank Regeneration
Organizations can rebuild from dormant assets - patents, brand equity, customer relationships, institutional knowledge - that were 'deposited' during successful periods. Recovery is slower than resprouting but possible even after catastrophic damage.
