Souss-Massa ranks 4th among Morocco's economic powers according to the 2025 '500 Global' ranking, immediately after Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima. The region's 20 companies achieved 19.9 billion dirhams turnover (+9.7%), led by COPAG (8.14 billion dirhams, +8.2%). Population reached 3.02 million (2024 census, +1.2% annual growth). Agriculture contributes 17.3% of regional GDP and 9% nationally—#1 exporting region for citrus fruits and vegetables with 451,165 hectares cultivated (106,664 with drip irrigation). Agadir anchors fishing industry with large offshore/coastal port. Summer 2024 saw 8% rise in overnight stays and 4% increase in tourist arrivals. Four pillars: agriculture, fishing, agri-food industry, and tourism. However, 2023 growth was just 1.8%—below national average—due to agricultural sector challenges from drought.
