Nayarit
81.8% hotel occupancy (2024, top 3 nationally); 6B+ pesos December tourism; $363M FDI; #1 tobacco producer; new airport 4M passengers/year (2025).
Nayarit achieved 81.8% hotel occupancy in Nuevo Nayarit in 2024—ranking among Mexico's top three—as over one million tourists arrived in December alone, generating 6+ billion pesos in economic impact. FDI reached $363 million in 2024, with the U.S. ($131M), Spain ($114M), and Canada ($35.8M) leading. The Tepic-Riviera Nayarit International Airport expansion (operational Q1 2025) will handle 4 million passengers annually. At least ten new hotels will open by 2026, led by AMResorts, Grupo Vidanta, and Marriott. The state leads Mexico in tobacco production, with Tepic hosting major cigarette factories and headquarters for the country's two largest tobacco companies. Agriculture remains significant: mangoes ($66.7M), ethyl alcohol ($55.3M), and prepared fruits ($46M) led 2024 exports to the U.S. ($247M), Canada, and Spain. The Riviera Nayarit tourism corridor (Bucerías, Punta Mita, Sayulita) partners with conservation authorities to protect the Islas Marietas while enabling sustainable growth.
