Haifa District

Haifa District (population 1.12 million) is Israel's port and industrial anchor—a northern coastal territory centered on the country's primary deep-water port at Haifa. The city of Haifa itself represents Israel's most economically integrated mixed Arab-Jewish city, with Arab Christians concentrated here alongside the majority Jewish population. The district hosts major industrial facilities along the bay, the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), and the Baháʼí World Centre on Mount Carmel. Municipal finances reflect the district's economic base: Haifa maintains approximately 80% own-source revenue in its budget, among the highest in Israel, indicating strong local tax capacity.
