Xi'an's GDP reached 1.33 trillion yuan in 2024 (+4.6%), with per capita GDP at 101,485 yuan. The city rose to 18th globally (7th in China) in the 2024 Global Innovation Index. Xi'an hosts 15,000+ high-tech enterprises and 19,000 tech SMEs, with technology contract turnover exceeding 450 billion yuan. Industrial value-added grew 6.5%; imports/exports jumped 14.5% to 411.8 billion yuan. Shaanxi is China's 15th largest economy, with fossil fuels and high-tech as the two largest sectors. The province produces 50%+ of R&D and manufacturing equipment for domestic commercial aviation. Samsung and Micron operate semiconductor facilities in Xi'an, attracted by 1.2 million college students and 3,000 R&D institutions.
