Chongqing's GDP hit 3.22 trillion yuan in 2024 (+5.7%), surpassing Guangzhou to become China's fourth-largest city economy. Per capita GDP exceeded 100,000 yuan for the first time. The municipality produced 2.5+ million vehicles in 2024 (+9.4%), with NEV production soaring 90.5% to 953,000 units. Two-thirds of global iPads, ~80 million laptops, and 100+ million smartphones are manufactured in Chengdu-Chongqing. Strategic emerging industries in manufacturing grew 12.3%. Integrated circuit output more than doubled. The Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle reached 9.7 trillion yuan GDP (2024), targeting 10+ trillion in 2025—with four trillion-yuan industrial clusters in electronics, equipment, materials, and specialty goods. One in seven Chinese cars comes from this region. NEV exports hit 43.13 billion yuan (+94%). This mountain city's geography once isolated it; now vertical urbanism and manufacturing density define its character.
