Immunology
Lymphocyte
White blood cells that are central to adaptive immunity. Includes T cells (cellular immunity) and B cells (antibody production).
Biological Context
Lymphocytes recognize specific pathogens through surface receptors. B cells produce antibodies; T cells kill infected cells or coordinate immune responses. Memory lymphocytes provide long-lasting immunity after infection or vaccination. Lymphocytes circulate through blood and lymphatic system.
Business Application
Organizational lymphocytes: specialized defense units that identify and respond to specific threats—security teams, legal departments, competitive intelligence. They develop 'memory' of past threats.
