The Value Proposition Canvas maps how products create value for customers—jobs to be done, pains, gains—against features that address them. This is precisely how Darwin's finches' beaks match ecological jobs: the cactus finch's elongated beak (feature) addresses the job of extracting nectar from cactus flowers (customer need) while avoiding spines (pain point). The woodpecker finch uses a twig tool (feature) to extract grubs (gain) from tree bark. Perfect value proposition alignment means every morphological feature maps to a specific ecological need.
