PLG (Product-Led Growth)

Origin: OpenView Partners / Wes Bush

Biological Parallel

Product-Led Growth means the product itself drives acquisition and expansion, not sales teams. This is how flowering plants achieved dominance: rather than relying on wind (broadcast marketing), they co-evolved with pollinators who experienced the product (nectar) and spread it (pollen transfer) to qualified prospects (compatible flowers). The product creates its own distribution network. Viruses perfected PLG billions of years ago: the 'product' (viral replication machinery) is so compelling to host cells that it spreads itself without external sales effort. When your product solves a problem so well that users become your distribution channel, you've achieved biological PLG.
