Muda, Muri, Mura
Origin: Toyota (7 Wastes)
Biological Parallel
Ecosystems eliminate all three wastes: Muda (dead organisms decompose fully, returning 100% of nutrients), Muri (carrying capacity prevents population overshoot that would crash the system), and Mura (seasonal migration smooths resource demand rather than creating feast-famine cycles). When these fail, extinction follows—the Irish Elk's massive antlers (Mura in growth allocation) created overburden (Muri on neck muscles) that wasted energy (Muda) until the species collapsed. Toyota's three wastes are ecological principles: balance, flow, and complete utilization.
