Metabolic pathways regulate flow through enzymatic gates that open or close based on downstream capacity—glucose metabolism slows when ATP accumulates, preventing bottleneck overload. Kanban mirrors this metabolic flow control: work-in-progress limits function as allosteric enzymes, sensing downstream congestion and throttling input accordingly. The Krebs cycle doesn't accumulate infinite intermediates; neither should your development pipeline.
