Feature Factory

Origin: John Cutler (critique)

Biological Parallel

Cancer cells are biological feature factories—they proliferate rapidly without regard to organism-level outcomes, consuming resources to produce more cells rather than functional tissue. Unlike healthy cells that differentiate based on environmental signals (what does the body need?), cancer cells ignore feedback and optimize for local metrics (cell count, division speed). The feature factory pathology mirrors this: shipping features without validating outcomes, measuring output instead of impact, and eventually consuming the host organization's resources while delivering diminishing marginal value.
