Blitzscaling

Origin: Reid Hoffman (2018)

Biological Parallel

Blitzscaling is r-selection on steroids: prioritize growth speed over efficiency, accept chaos and casualties, race to dominance before competitors arrive. Bacteria colonizing a fresh wound follow this strategy—doubling every 20 minutes, outpacing immune response through sheer reproductive velocity. The gamble: reach critical mass before resources exhaust or predators (antibiotics, immune cells) overwhelm you. Most blitzscaling attempts die in crashes, but survivors achieve winner-take-all dominance. It's a high-mortality strategy that works only in empty niches with abundant resources and network effects that reward speed.
