Tucson Citizen

The Tucson Citizen's 2009 closure ended Arizona's oldest newspaper at 138 years. The joint operating agreement with Arizona Daily Star couldn't save it when advertising collapsed. Like species that share territory until resources become scarce, the two papers competed until one couldn't continue. The Citizen's closure left Tucson a one-newspaper town.
