Signature Bank's 2023 failure two days after SVB demonstrates how crypto exposure and contagion combine fatally. The bank had courted crypto customers, making it vulnerable when SVB panic spread. Regulators seized Signature preemptively to prevent the panic from spreading further. Like a herd animal taken down to prevent disease spread, Signature was killed partly to stop contagion.
