Saturn's 2010 discontinuation demonstrates how revolutionary concepts can be starved to death by internal competition. GM's 'different kind of car company' launched in 1985 to fight Japanese imports but received declining investment as traditional divisions protected their budgets. Like a new species in an ecosystem where established species control resources, Saturn never got the support needed to mature.
