Reliance Communications
Reliance Communications' 2019 insolvency ended Anil Ambani's telecom ambitions and demonstrated sibling rivalry as business strategy failure. When patriarch Dhirubhai Ambani died in 2002 without a will, sons Mukesh and Anil split the empire. Anil got telecom and entertainment; Mukesh got petrochemicals and refining. Mukesh then used Reliance Jio to destroy the entire Indian telecom industry through predatory pricing, offering free service for months. Reliance Communications, with $7 billion in debt, was one of many casualties. Fraternal competition became sectoral destruction.
