Panasonic's 2013 exit from smartphone manufacturing ended the Japanese electronics giant's mobile ambitions. Despite strong brand and manufacturing capabilities, Panasonic couldn't compete in smartphone economics. The company retreated to Japan-only feature phones, then exited entirely. Panasonic joined the exodus of Japanese mobile manufacturers from global competition.
