Outbox
Outbox raised $5M to digitize physical mail—employees would open your mail, scan it, and send you PDFs. The USPS refused to cooperate, requiring Outbox to rent PO boxes and retrieve mail daily. The company shut down when it couldn't scale without postal cooperation. Like an organism that needs symbiotic relationships with hosts who refuse to cooperate, Outbox depended on partnerships it couldn't secure.
