National Brewing Company

Beverages · Founded 1885

National Brewing's 1979 closure ended Baltimore's last brewery after Carling acquired then abandoned it. The company that made National Bohemian ('Natty Boh') couldn't survive industry consolidation. The brand survives, licensed to Pabst, but Baltimore brewing died. National demonstrated that regional brewers faced extinction as national competitors achieved scale advantages.
