Joost
Joost, founded by Skype creators Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis, raised $45M to deliver TV over the internet in 2007. The company pioneered streaming but arrived before broadband could support quality video. When Hulu and YouTube scaled, Joost's peer-to-peer technology became obsolete. Like an organism with the right idea but wrong execution, Joost proved the concept while failing to capture it.
