Isuzu (US Car Division)

Automotive · Founded 1916

Isuzu ended U.S. car sales in 2008 after years of declining volumes, though it continues selling commercial trucks. The company that once sold 127,000 vehicles annually in America couldn't achieve scale against established competitors. Isuzu's Rodeo and Trooper SUVs lost ground to more refined competitors. The company retreated to commercial vehicles where it could compete. Isuzu demonstrated that subscale automotive operations eventually require market exit.
