Convoy built a freight marketplace connecting shippers and truckers, then collapsed when network effects failed to materialize fast enough to sustain burn rate. Like passenger pigeons that required massive flocks to survive, Convoy needed critical mass of both sides simultaneously. When growth stalled, the pioneer advantage became a pioneer trap.
