Bradlees

Bradlees' 2001 liquidation closed 105 discount stores across the Northeast after two bankruptcies (1995, 2000). The company served working-class customers with discount housewares and apparel. Walmart and Target offered better prices and selection. Bradlees' smaller format and regional scale provided no competitive advantage. The liquidation joined Caldor and Ames in the Northeast discount retail extinction event of 1999-2002.
